Art and science are often seen as opposites.
One is seen as emotional, instinctive and expressive, while the other is logical, measurable and precise. Yet throughout history, the two have often worked hand in hand, with nature serving as a bridge between them.
Artists study patterns, proportions and movement. Scientists observe systems, structures and behaviors. Nature quietly provides inspiration for both.
Perhaps this is why some of the most powerful works of art seem both emotional and strangely familiar. They reflect patterns and principles that already exist in the world around us.
Why humans are attracted to models
The human brain is constantly searching for order.
We recognize faces in the clouds, shapes in the landscapes and rhythm in the repeated shapes. Models help us understand the world and predict what will come next.
This may explain why repetition appears in art and design, from Islamic geometric patterns and Gothic architecture to contemporary sculpture and digital design.
Islamic artists developed highly sophisticated geometric systems centuries before modern computers. Using circles, polygons and repeating units, they created designs that were both mathematically precise and spiritually infinite. Their work continues to influence architecture, product design and digital art today.
Nature itself is built on repetition. The leaves follow arrangements known as phyllotaxis. Snowflakes repeat geometric structures. Waves, coastlines, and tree branches all create patterns that are both organized and organic.
Artist and mathematician MC Escher explored these ideas through impossible spaces, tessellations, and repetitive shapes, demonstrating how mathematics and imagination can work together.

For thousands of years, artists, architects and designers have wondered whether beauty can be measured.
The golden ratio, approximately 1:1.618, appears in classical architecture, Renaissance paintings, and natural forms such as shells and flowers. Fibonacci sequences can be found in sunflower heads, pine cones and spiral galaxies.
While beauty cannot be reduced to a formula, mathematics often provides an underlying structure.
Leonardo da Vinci explored human proportions through the Vitruvian Man, examining the relationship between anatomy, geometry and art. His work demonstrates that observation and creativity are often inseparable.
Architect Antoni Gaudí took a similar approach. Rather than imposing architecture on nature, he studied trees, bones, bees’ nests and natural structures to illuminate his buildings. The columns branch like trees, the surfaces resemble skeletal forms, and light moves through its interiors much like sunlight passing through the canopy of a forest.
Math may not create beauty, but it often helps us understand why certain shapes are pleasing.
Weather as a designer
Weather shapes the places we live, the buildings we create and the colors we use.
Northern landscapes often produce muted palettes of grays, blues and soft greens. Desert environments inspire warm tones and strong contrasts. Coastal regions create materials and architecture designed to withstand wind, rain and salt.
Artists have long responded to weather conditions and atmosphere. MW Turner painted storms, sea spray and changing skies, while the Impressionists were fascinated by fleeting moments of light and changing seasons. Contemporary designers increasingly consider climate, precipitation and environmental conditions as starting points for their work.
Weather is not just a backdrop. This influences mood, material, color and experience.
This relationship between atmosphere and place is also found at Lazerian Atmospheric reflections from the North for Manchester Airport. The suspended installation transforms the glass of the historic chandelier into cloud-like formations that appear to drift through the terminal. Inspired by the sky, weather systems and changing light of northern England, the work demonstrates how environmental conditions can become both material and narrative.
Biomimicry: learning from nature
Nature has spent millions of years solving problems.
Birds fly efficiently. Spider silk combines strength and flexibility. Honeycombs create maximum strength with minimum material. Termite mounds naturally regulate temperature.
Biomimicry takes these natural solutions and applies them to art, architecture and design.
Architects study bird bones to create lightweight structures. Engineers are looking at shark skin to reduce drag. Designers examine seed dispersal systems, insect wings and plant structures to develop new products and shapes.
The Eastgate center in Zimbabwe, designed by architect Mick Pearce, was inspired by termite mounds. By studying how termites regulate temperature in their nests, the building significantly reduced its reliance on mechanical cooling systems.
Rather than dominating nature, biomimicry asks what we can learn from it.
Why animals appear in art
Animals have appeared in human creativity for thousands of years.
Early cave paintings often depicted bison, horses and deer. Ancient cultures used animal symbolism to represent strength, wisdom, protection and transformation.
Birds often symbolize freedom, migration and hope. Bees represent community and industry. Butterflies suggest transformation and renewal. Wolves, bears and deer often become reflections of human emotions and behaviors.
German artist and biologist Ernst Haeckel demonstrated the beauty of natural structures through his detailed illustrations of marine life and microscopic organisms. Its publication Art forms in nature influenced generations of artists, architects and designers, particularly within the Art Nouveau movement.
Animals allow us to indirectly tell human stories.
Contemporary artists continue to use wildlife and natural forms because they create immediate emotional connections. Lazerian’s sculptures, including birds, bees, polar bears, snakes and dogs, often use animal forms to address broader themes such as climate change, biodiversity, migration, community and human behavior.
Projects such as the Overworked bee explored the importance of pollinators and collective effort, while works inspired by birds study movement, migration and place. More recently, snake sculptures created for Geneva have examined global health and environmental responsibility through snake symbolism.
These works demonstrate that animals remain powerful vehicles for storytelling and connection.
The space between disciplines
Perhaps the most interesting work often happens between categories.
Art can reveal the emotional side of science. Science can explain why certain shapes, colors and patterns affect us. Nature provides both inspiration and proof.
As technology advances and environmental concerns become more important, these disciplines could become even more connected.
The future may not belong to specialists working in isolation, but to those who wish to explore the spaces between art, science and nature.

PakarPBN
A Private Blog Network (PBN) is a collection of websites that are controlled by a single individual or organization and used primarily to build backlinks to a “money site” in order to influence its ranking in search engines such as Google. The core idea behind a PBN is based on the importance of backlinks in Google’s ranking algorithm. Since Google views backlinks as signals of authority and trust, some website owners attempt to artificially create these signals through a controlled network of sites.
In a typical PBN setup, the owner acquires expired or aged domains that already have existing authority, backlinks, and history. These domains are rebuilt with new content and hosted separately, often using different IP addresses, hosting providers, themes, and ownership details to make them appear unrelated. Within the content published on these sites, links are strategically placed that point to the main website the owner wants to rank higher. By doing this, the owner attempts to pass link equity (also known as “link juice”) from the PBN sites to the target website.
The purpose of a PBN is to give the impression that the target website is naturally earning links from multiple independent sources. If done effectively, this can temporarily improve keyword rankings, increase organic visibility, and drive more traffic from search results.
