Manchester has long been in the heart of musical culture, and this summer, the city will come to life with an extraordinary fusion of music and art. Music for the Senses, a brand new multisensory art track, should resume the city from July 7 to August 31, 2025, offering residents and visitors the opportunity to immerse themselves in an unequaled creative experience.

Organized by Wild in Art in collaboration with the Municipal Council of Manchester, Music for the Senses will weave a rich tapestry of installations, exhibitions and interactive experiences. At the heart of this celebration is an amnesty of guitar, a call at the city scale for Manchester music lovers to give their instruments, ensuring that the old broken or dear guitars can find a new life as part of a unique and large -scale art event.

Music for the senses: the interactive installation of Lazerian on Guitar Street

As part of this great initiative, Lazerian will create an ambitious interactive installation to display on “Guitar Street”. Directed by the artist and designer Liam Hopkins, Lazerian will breathe a new life at more than 100 broken guitars, reusing them in an immersive sculptural installation on a large scale which captures the spirit and the heritage of the musical scene of Manchester. This artistic arrangement will appear in a street still revealing in the city center of Manchester, serving as a landmark in the Music for the Senses path.

This daring and innovative project will allow visitors not only to admire the processed instruments, but also to engage with the installation in an interactive way, ensuring that music and creativity remain at the heart of the experience. By reusing these guitars, Lazerian will develop a dynamic public art work which reflects the deeply rooted link of the city with music and innovation.

Artistic installation

Guitar Street is not only an artistic installation; It is a dynamic celebration of the Manchester music scene. This unique and interactive exhibition reuses more than 100 broken guitars in an astonishing demonstration of creativity and innovation. Nestled in the heart of downtown Manchester, Guitar Street is the cornerstone of music for The Senses Art Trail, a project that highlights the status of Manchester as a musical city.

This ambitious installation is an effort of collaboration between the world producer of world Wild in Art and the Municipal Council of Manchester. Their shared vision is to support musical projects and bases of the base in the Grand Manchester, ensuring that the rich musical heritage of the city continues to thrive. By transforming the instruments thrown into public art, Guitar Street famous not only the past, but also inspires the future generations of musicians and artists.

Concept and inspiration

The concept behind Guitar Street is deeply rooted in the rich musical story of Manchester and its dynamic musical scene. Liam Hopkins, the creative force behind the installation, will be inspired by the emblematic music places of the city and the legendary musicians who honored their scenes. The choice to use broken guitars like medium is a tribute to the ethics of Manchester DIY and the ingenuity that characterizes its musical community.

Each guitar of the installation tells its own story, reflecting the diversified and corrected past of the Manchester musical landscape. Beyond Guitar Street, more than 50 additional guitars will be transformed in a creative way by a selection of visual artists, including Hammo and Danielle Rhoda. These hand -painted and decorated guitars will be presented in windows and cultural places across the city, each celebrating the vibrant musical history of Manchester. These installations contribute to the artistic path on the city scale called Music for the Senses, which aims to celebrate the Musical Scene of Manchester through various interactive installations, by focusing in particular on the contributions of guitars of the local community.

The loose articles by Manchester Punks also join the project (via Hammo’s works of art), bringing their raw energy and their daring artistic spirit to the facilities. Hammo’s work will highlight his journey as an emerging power in the UK’s music scene, after recently shared the scene with legends like New Order, Foo Fighters, The Lovely Eggs and Gang of Four.

Guitar amnesty: how to get involved

Manchester music lovers are invited to contribute to this creative movement by giving their guitars, whether new, broken or beloved relics. These donations will play a key role in the formation of the Music for the Senses experience, celebrating the rich musical history of the city. Contributions will be used either as part of an artistic installation, or as a musical rescue buoy for promising basic artists.

The instruments in good condition or significant value will be assessed by Rigby Music MCR and given to a musical charitable organization, ensuring that they continue to be played by the next generation of artists.

Sponsorship and charity auction with charity partner forever Manchester

Manchester companies are encouraged to sponsor works of art and installations, supporting the creative and musical landscape of the city. Once the path is completed, the guitars designed to measure will be sold at auction, the benefits ranging to basic musical projects and places of the Grand Manchester. This initiative will be managed by the charity partner Forever Manchester, ensuring that the funds reach those who need it most in the local music scene.

Manchester’s deputy advisor, Garry Bridges, stressed the importance of this initiative, declaring:
“Manchester is already known worldwide as a city of music and with 1.3 million musical tourists who visit us this summer, we want to exploit the moment and celebrate the massive contribution that music makes to the city.”
