In the race of health insurers to unload non -profitable members, the winners are emerging

If you have followed the benefits of health insurance in recent weeks, you may have a cervical boost.

Four of the biggest players – the best names like Unitedhealth Group and Eleveance – reduced their expectations for the year, while two others – Humana and CVS Health – raised them. One, Cigna, reaffirmed its previous perspectives.

It turns out that the yields that health insurers have seen in the first half of 2025 were largely determined by what they did in the previous two years. Some have seen writing on the wall early and shaken unprofitable plans in specific counties, emerging with more stable profiles, although thinner. Others were not as proactive and they now pay the price.
