From large networks like Havas and McCann to independent agencies and small groups, Lisa’s experience has seen her work with new graduates through to senior management teams. Lisa will share her tips for having the Two + Two experience and getting the most out of it when applying for your future roles in her end of day talk. Here is his advice for students preparing for Two+Two 2026.

If you’re reading this, it’s because, like the Creative Resource team, around 40 mentors from agency and client-side marketing teams across the Northwest, your client of the day, an incredible group of judges and myself, you’re gearing up for Two + Two 2026! I’ve seen the dissertation and read the research and I’m excited about the creative thinking, problem solving, and ultimately the really interesting ideas we’re going to see this year. As the mother of a son, I am even more intrigued!

Each year, Julie Ollerton and I take an hour with the mentors before the event to help them prepare for their role supporting the more than 150 students involved. We did it this week. We discussed how they can help you get the most out of the experience and how, ultimately, you get the best possible chance of winning!

This year, one of the questions asked by a mentor concerned the uniform management of contributions within the group. By that I mean making sure everyone has a chance to contribute. This got me thinking about how we help you prepare, because every year I talk to students about how to get the most out of Two + Two. After the event, but actually, until now, I haven’t put my nose into it at this point. So here we go.. some unsolicited advice for you, to help you through the day!!

  1. Read absolutely everything Creative Resource sent you. You’ve probably heard that it’s a busy day. It’s very true. Upon arrival you will be checked in and given the briefing for the first time. This is the problem you spend the day solving. You will be much better equipped to tackle this matter if you have already done the research.
  2. Take notes in presentations. You will hear from your client and the president of the judges. Both will give you information that will enrich the research and help you approach the case. So focus, listen, take notes and enjoy these discussions.
  3. Contribute. You might be feeling a little nervous, so my advice is to introduce yourself to your group members early – start by telling them your name and what you’re studying. They might not look it, but they’re probably nervous too. By speaking early in this new group, you hear your own voice and feel more comfortable sharing it. Speaking early shows you that you are capable of speaking later and helps you feel more confident.
  4. Allow others to contribute. If you’re naturally enthusiastic and verbal, remember that sometimes others aren’t. So encourage the quieter members of your team by asking them what they think, then waiting and listening to their opinion.
  5. Be rested. Finally, prepare yourself physically and mentally by arriving rested. Eat something healthy in the morning and be ready for a busy, challenging, but so much fun day.

THANKS! I hope this is helpful and I look forward to meeting you on the 29thth April for Deux + Deux 2026!

A Private Blog Network (PBN) is a collection of websites that are controlled by a single individual or organization and used primarily to build backlinks to a “money site” in order to influence its ranking in search engines such as Google. The core idea behind a PBN is based on the importance of backlinks in Google’s ranking algorithm. Since Google views backlinks as signals of authority and trust, some website owners attempt to artificially create these signals through a controlled network of sites.

In a typical PBN setup, the owner acquires expired or aged domains that already have existing authority, backlinks, and history. These domains are rebuilt with new content and hosted separately, often using different IP addresses, hosting providers, themes, and ownership details to make them appear unrelated. Within the content published on these sites, links are strategically placed that point to the main website the owner wants to rank higher. By doing this, the owner attempts to pass link equity (also known as “link juice”) from the PBN sites to the target website.

The purpose of a PBN is to give the impression that the target website is naturally earning links from multiple independent sources. If done effectively, this can temporarily improve keyword rankings, increase organic visibility, and drive more traffic from search results.
