So if you need additional resources, you’ll save money by posting a job on LinkedIn and waiting for applications to flood in. We’ll do it ourselves and save a ton of money. What’s not to like?
Except it’s not that simple.
You put the commercial on and uh ho, the floodgates don’t just open, they cascade. But that’s okay, now you have a ton of adorable candidates to select from.
Wait, how many suit you? Yeah, how many portfolios and CVs do you actually have time to go through? What else can you do with your time?
Or worse yet, no flood of applications and you paid for an advert that got you nothing more than a few people who really like the idea of becoming a designer, or who don’t have a clue what an account manager does, but it seems fun and a nice change and they’re sure to have the transferable skills.
LinkedIn easily tells us how many applications have been submitted for jobs….
A senior designer job had 7 applications in one week. There were so many red flags that I’m really not surprised.
Another has 124 applications, some late at night.
And I really wouldn’t want to be the person reviewing resumes and portfolios for the graphic designer position that has 749 applications!
Ok, just kidding, what’s the alternative? How do we do it?
