For the British actress, the path to motherhood is deeply intertwined with her diagnosis of endometriosis, a condition in which tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside the uterus, often causing multiple symptoms, including severe pain, inflammation and often fertility problems.

Hewitt says she knew since she was a teenager that something was wrong, going through painful periods and increasingly disruptive symptoms and, like so many women, she searched for answers for a decade.

Finally, in November 2024, she opts for excision-surgery (by laparoscopy) not only to relieve her symptoms, but also to preserve her fertility.

“[The surgery] It worked really well for me,” she says. Since this procedure, her endometriosis symptoms have improved significantly and she announced her pregnancy in a series of photos via Instagram in July 2025.
