With Trump in the United Kingdom, GSK boasts $ 30 billion in the United States over 5 years
London-The manufacturer of drugs based in the United Kingdom said early Wednesday that he planned to invest $ 30 billion in the United States over five years, an announcement from this week’s state visit here by President Trump.
The company, which said that the funds would be used to expand research and manufacturing operations and developing AI capabilities, is the latest drug manufacturer to unveil major investments in the United States since the Trump administration, after Eli Lilly, Astrazeneca, Novartis and others.
The United States is the largest market for drug manufacturers, and the industry had moved more resources there before Trump is in office. But the sums that have enabled major securities have also enabled companies, threatened with prices on pharmaceutical products and the drug pricing plan proposed by Trump, to call on the administration. On prices in particular, companies have argued that they were already making drugs for American patients in the United States-and also committed to building even more manufacturing there.
