The Board of Directors of Colorado is moving first in the nation, sets the payment limit on Amgen Drug
In a move from the first per country, a panel of Colorado voted to limit state health plans for costly arthritis treatment, a step that can encourage other states to pursue similar strategies to contain expenditure on prescription medication.
The historic vote by the Colorado prescription Drug Approvality Board creates a higher payment limit for the largely prescribed Enbrel drug, which is a successful treatment sold by AMGEN. In practice, the decision establishes a payment ceiling for government agencies and commercial plans which provide health insurance to state residents.
The limit has been set at $ 600 per unit, which is also the current maximum price which should enter into force in the Medicare program in January. This corresponds to around $ 30,350 per year per person, against around $ 53,000 that the average insurance scheme paid per person in 2023, according to the state complaint database.
