Scientists provide for a 10 -year ban on the CRISPR for the edition of germinal genes

The main commercial organizations representing manufacturers of cellular and genic therapy call for a 10 -year international moratorium on the use of CRISPR and other DNA publishing tools to create genetically modified children, according to a declaration project provided in Stat.

This decision – at more than seven years after the Chinese researcher, Il Jiankui, announced the birth of the first crispr babies in the world – is intended to send a clear signal to the global scientific community which tries to modify the genomes of eggs, sperm or embryos – known as the germinal line – intended for living births remain unacceptable at that time.

The declaration has no legal or regulatory force, but should offer advice as the countries decide whether or how to regulate the germinal line and other changes in the genome.
